Inspired by a real event and featuring the Tony-nominated score by Steve Martin and Edie Brickell, Bright Star tells a sweeping tale of love and redemption set against the rich backdrop of the American South in the 1920s and ’40s. When literary editor Alice Murphy meets a young soldier just home from World War II, he awakens her longing for the child she once lost. Haunted by their unique connection, Alice sets out on a journey to understand her past – and what she finds has the power to transform both of their lives.

Frequently Asked Questions:
Q: Can anyone audition?
A: Yes! Our only request is that performers be 16 years of age since there are not roles for younger kids in this show.
Q: What if I'll be out of town for (x number of days) this summer?
A: No worries! Please just let us know about any conflicts on your audition form and we will take these into consideration while casting and scheduling rehearsals. We understand having other commitments and will do our best to accommodate. However, we will not be able to accommodate conflicts on performance days (July 18, 19, or 20). If that's the case, we'd love to have you help in another way (sets, costumes, selling tickets at the door, etc.) and hope you can audition for future productions.
Q: Do you need players for a pit orchestra?
A: We'll be using pre-recorded tracks for this production. However, other productions of Bright Star have used instrumentalists in the cast, and we'd love to do the same! If you're interested, PLEASE come audition and show us what you can do. We want to showcase as much local talent as possible!
Q: What if.... I can't sing? I've never done this? I don't know if I'll be any good?
A: This is the perfect chance to try! There are big and small parts for all abilities and comfort levels. Give it a shot! You can ease your nerves by coming to our pre-audition workshop on May 1st.
Q: No really, I want to help but I don't think I want to be on stage. What can I do?
A: Send us a message and keep watching this page and our website! We are focused on casting right now, but soon our production team will need help with all sorts of projects from set construction to sewing costumes to finding props and much more. We'll even need some folks to join our backstage run crew and booth tech team. We really appreciate your support!
